The Future of Cocreation

Many of today’s disruptive solutions are based on technology. However, it is important that the focus on technology does not forget the people it should serve - in the processes and the results. Design needs to be human-centred when creating buildings and public space in cities. Technology should be an underlying driver.

This session focuses on new tools for citizen involvement. We have gathered four experts who can help demonstrate and discuss new ways of consulting with citizens as relevant actors and thereby qualifying the development of our urban spaces.

Guests: Dr. Mara Balestrini is a Human-Computer Interaction expert and technological strategist with a bottom-up approach to the way we develop our urban spaces. Mara is the director of the advisory company "Ideas for Change", where they assist players in the field with adopting citizens-involving processes.

Gyorgyi Galik is the design researcher and main consultant for the London Design Council’s urban development programme. With a background in private corporations such as Future Cities Catapult, PAN studio and Umbrellium, Gyorgyi will talk about new emerging methods of involvement.

Manuela Naveau, Export Manager at Ars Electronica, will present ideas and thoughts that have been generated and created over 40 years by researchers affiliated with the centre.

Liselott Stenfeldt is Head of Interactive Spaces Urban Studio at the Alexandra Institute and has many years of experience developing and testing new inclusive methods for citizens in different cities. The methods are largely based on prototyping and trying to offer citizens full-scale visions that show an alternative future. Liselott is also the initiator of the Prix BLOXHUB Interactive.
